Funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has been announced which will allow for the redevelopment of Tim Smythe Park in Ennis.

The funding application was made by Clare County Council under the Sports Nation, Sports Capital Grant and Deputy Carey is delighted to announce that funding of €52,824 will now be made available to provide dressing rooms, showers and toilets at the popular location.

Tim Smythe Park, formally known as the Fair Green, has long been an important recreational space for the people of Ennis. Many sporting groups use the Park which is situated in the heart of Ennis. This funding is very welcome and will be used to upgrade the dressing rooms, showers and toilet facilities making it more attractive to sporting organisations.

At a time when public finances are limited, funding of €52,824 for this project is very significant and will have a positive effect on creating employment locally during the construction phase.

I want to pay tribute to Clare County Council who made this successful funding application and look forward to Tim Smythe Park being used by the people of Ennis and further afield for many more generations to come.
