I have received confirmation from the Office of Public Works that Clare County Council has been given approval to engage consultants to undertake a feasibility study for works at Cloughaninchy.

This is positive news. I am now calling on Clare County Council to begin the process of appointing consultants without delay. It’s important that work on a feasibility would begin in the coming weeks with a view to introducing measures to protect homes from the effects of the elements at the earliest opportunity.

Dear Deputy,

Minister of State, Simon Harris T.D., has asked me to provide you with the following update in relation to coastal erosion/flood protection measures at Cloughaninchy.

The Office of Public Works has agreed in principle to provide funding to Clare County Council to engage consultants to undertake a feasibility study for possible works at this location.

The estimated cost of the study is €200,000 (the actual cost will not be known until tenders are submitted and a contract awarded).

Best regards,

Gary
