With the €9.8 billion CAP Strategic Plan providing a range of direct payments and rural development farm supports, the application process for the new Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and other area-based schemes is now open.

Over the coming days, farmers will receive their BISS maps and land details for 2023 to help with their online BISS application.

Farmers and advisors should be aware of some important delivery dates, including the closing date for BISS applications, which will be midnight on Monday, May 29; the advance payment dates for ANC, BISS, CRISS and the Eco-scheme, which are expected to start in October; the dates for balancing payments and payments for other schemes, which are expected to start in December.

Online systems for transferring Payment Entitlements, and for applying for the National Reserve (Young Farmer and New Entrant) and Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (the new Young Farmers’ Scheme) will open in the coming weeks.

Information Sessions and farmer clinics will be advertised in the farm media and local newspapers in the coming weeks.

After receiving more than 46,000 applications for the first tranche of the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) scheme, all valid applications will be accepted into the Scheme this year.

Applicants will be contacted by the Department in the coming days and should wait until they receive their letters before contacting either the Department or their advisor.

To accommodate the high number of participants, access to the BISS application system for ACRES applicants will be made available on a gradual basis over the next few weeks, as approvals issue and the required updates to mapping systems are made.
